In 1930s, before the murder of Elizabeth Short, there is a serial killer who terrorized the Cleveland. The killer was known by the nickname "Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run". The nickname was acquired because of all the victimes mutilated with a neat incision, just like Elizabeth Short. The theory is, this killer from Cleveland moved to California and kill Elizabeth Short. The other one is when Janice Knowlton published a book called "Daddy was the Black Dahlia Killer", in 1995. In her book, she has a theory that her father, named George Knowlton was the Black Dahlia killer but investigator reject the theory because they think Janice just released her theory based on the recollections of depression, given that her father often sexually abusing her since childhood. There's another book called "Black Dahlia Avenger" that was written by Steve Hodel, a homicide detective in the LAPD. He's accusing his father George Hodel as the Black Dahlia Killer. Lastly, in 1981, decades after the murder took place, an informant came to St.John, an LAPD detective and gave a taped confession from someone who could be the killer. The man on the tape also showed the informant a few photos and personal items are claimed as belonging to Elizabeth Short. The man named Arnold Smith. In the tape, Smith claimed that his partner named Al Morrison is also a sex offenders have been killed and mutilated Elizabeth Short. In addition, the tape also tells details of how Elizabeth Shot was killed. Beth came into Al Morrison room because she had no place to stay. He then took Beth to a house on East 31st near San pedro and asked her to have sex which is then rejected by Elizabeth Short. Morrison became angry and persecuted Beth then led to the murder and mutilation of Elizabeth Short. St.John wanted to meet with Smith personally but few days before the meeting, Smith was found dead. Smith allegedly smoking when he was asleep so that his body burned to the ground with his bed and other document allegedly belonging to Elizabeth Short.
My theory ... I think George Hodel is the one who probably killed Beth or he knows something about the Black Dahlia murder. The picture on the right shows the hotel where Elizabeth Short was last seen and George Hodel's medical office. On January 9th, 1947 when Beth went missing, he was seen by the staff of hotel, talking to the phone and then at around 10 p.m. he went outside of the hotel. What I think happen, since George is a physician and Beth has some problem with her genital which is not fully developed. Beth was George patients and supposed to meet on the night when Beth went missing. He then picked her up and brought her to his house. Around that time, George Hodel's wife Dorothy Harvel Hodel was at his brother's house. He then tied and tortured Elizabeth Short for about three days, then ended her life on the fourth day. He sliced her face while she's still alive that causes hemorrhage which ended her life. Then on the fifth day, she sliced her body on half just above the waist. Drain all of her blood and clean her so that there will be no evidence against him. Then sometimes during that night, he drove with his car and found an empty vacant lot and just dumped her body there. The next day, January 15th, the mutilated body of Beth's body was found. He then collect all of Beth's belonging, tried to remove all the trace or fingerprints using the gasoline and mailed it to the LAPD office.
